Baptism: information
Baptism is the door to the Catholic Christian way of life, and signals a
family’s, couple’s or individual’s desire to be an active part of a local
Catholic-Christian community. St. Edwin parish welcomes those who
look forward each Sunday to the celebration of the Eucharist and
establishing relationships with a parish family. If you have this outlook,
Baptism is a new beginning, offering a lifetime of joy, holiness, and
spiritual growth.
Below we provide some opening information according to age. Feel
free to contact the office for further assistance!
Baptism for children under age seven:
One of the joys of our faith is to welcome a child into our Catholic-
Christian family through this first sacrament. Baptisms in English are
normally held at the 11:00am Mass, typically outside the season of
Advent and Lent.
Once you arrive to the office, we will direct you to our simple online
baptism registration form if you are already active members of the
parish. You can also find a list of the documents necessary to present to
the office for baptism here. We now offer the required baptismal class;
you can find information here.
If you are not currently an active member of our parish, you can find
information about our (p)re-registration program here.
Baptism for children grades two through eight
From age seven (usually second grade) onward, parents are invited to
enroll their children in our extended catechetical program, in
preparation to receive all three Sacraments of Initiation, the first of
which is Baptism. This program takes place within our children’s First
Holy Communion program. We have information about that here.
Baptism for teens in high school
Young people in high school who need baptism are invited to enroll in
our extended high school program, in preparation to receive all three
Sacraments of Initiation. This program takes place within our high
school Confirmation program, which you can find here.
Baptism for adults age eighteen and above
Adults eighteen and above, who are looking to receive Baptism, First
Holy Communion and/or Confirmation, are invited to enter our new
RCIA Program, which can be found here.
In the meantime, all those receiving the Sacrament of Baptism will
need a sponsor to guide them through the time of instruction. You can
find the criteria for a sponsor here.
