Order of Christian Initiation for Adults: information
Welcome to our Order of Christian Initiation program. It is for adults eighteen years and over who have the desire to receive Baptism, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation. This is also the class for those who are interested in becoming Catholic. We emphasize that the goal is integration into a loving Catholic-Christian parish family. Our program extends two “quarters,” from the second week of September through two weeks after the the Easter Vigil each year. Thus the entire religious education program (elementary, middle and high school) begins at the same time. We will determine a mutualally agreeable time to meet. We take breaks for all major holidays, as indicated on our Master Calendar. Unless therer is some extenuating circumstance, sacraments are received at the following Easter Vigil. Should something come up, there exist additional opportunities to be confirmed both at the parish and throughout the Archdiocese during the year. All of our programs have four components: 1) Sunday Mass, which forms the foundation of our program and all that we do here as a parish. Over the time of instruction each individual completes two quarters (four months each) with at least 75% attendance. Find out how to strategize, so as not to arrive at the end of a quarter without the required attendance here.* 2) Weekly classes under the direction of our dedicated team. 3) “Learning,” which includes knowing the prayers and other important components of our faith. You can find the material here. 4) Service at our parish events, especially at our Sunday food offerings, two annual festivals and Advent Posada. There are other events as well. Click here for more information. You may track your progress in these four areas here. All candidates are required to participate in the Fall and Spring festivals, our December parish Posada, the Palm Sunday Procession and the Easter Triduum. Through these events you will get to know your fellow parishioners. If you are interested and ready, just stop by the office, leave your name, number and the sacraments you seek, and we will get you started! *To successfully complete our program, participents must be committed to regularly attending Sunday Mass.
